Der Ödstein - Ein König unter Königen.

Der 2.335 m hohe Gipfel im Gesäuse wurde bereits 1850 vom Johnsbacher Jäger Fähringer über den Kirchengrat erstbestiegen. Historisch bedeutend vor allem aufgrund seiner imposanten Nordwestkante, der „Ödsteinkante“. Das damals „letzte große Problem der Ostalpen.

Am 25.08.1910 als geführte Tour von den bekannten Dolomiten-Bergführern Angelo Dibona und Luigi Rizzi mit den beiden Brüdern Guido und Max Mayer aus Wien erstbegangen. Erstaunlich deshalb, weil das Gesäuse damals als Gebiet des führerlosen Kletterns im Geiste der “Wiener Schule” etabliert war.

„Kaspressknödel“ - Impressively steep and very good, varied climbing. With the exception of the overhang at the entrance, the rock quality is consistently very good. Despite the steepness in the yellow wall area, the steep parts resolve surprisingly well. The more difficult passages are very well secured.

„Canal grande“ - The unbelievable water gully of the huge slab is the ultimate kingline! Perfekt rock quality, straight line and an impressive ambience makes the route to one of the best. Climbing this thing is bizarre, strenuous and requires a lot of feeling when dealing with small structures.

As early as 1984, the famouse Gesäuse climber Richard Gollner attempted to climb this line. A motivated plan without bolts! In fact, the shallow gully can not be secured by any friend or somthing like that...

„Oktoberfest“ @ Rinnerstein - A treat for off-width lovers. Horror for slab climbers. The route is divided into two sections. At the top, typically cool Rinnerstein climbing on perfect rock. Down in the prominent, deep and poorly gripped crack, rather unpleasant off-width and hand jam climbing. Crack climbing gloves are really beneficial here. In any case, the crack must be dry. This is especially the case in October.

20 years ago ... It's really fun sometimes to look at the old pictures together. Together with Chri Stangl on the incredibly aesthetic southern edge of the Khan Tengri 7,010 m in the Tian Shan mountains. Together we climbed a partly new route over the majestic line of the marble ridge in a 3-day alpinstil push. I was 19 years old then. This journey was the beginning of a longer lasting fascination with the high mountains. One of our loyal sponsors was @sport_vasold in Liezen. Thanks for that!

In honor of Andreas Rodlauer, the “Black Peter” who, 150 years ago, found and used the ascent of today's Peternpfad as an escape route with a chamois on his back.

„Atacama“ - A worthwhile, well-secured route with very good rock quality and a unique ambience in the basin above the Peternpfad. Very enjoyable due to the friendly character for north face conditions with manageable wall height and stress-free bolt protection.
